Put away the poutine: Soylent ships to Canada starting today

The food substitute Soylent has gained a highly requested feature this morning: international shipping. We’ve written quite a bit about the powdered meal product over the past couple of years, and pretty much every article saw non-US Ars readers interested in trying the pancake batter-like “shake” product. Many have expressed repeated frustration that they can’t actually order the stuff (some have had to resort to bootlegging). As of today, that’s changing: according to a brief blog post, Soylent can now be shipped to Canada—all ten provinces.

“I am thrilled that our first international expansion has taken place at last,” said Soylent designer and co-founder Rob Rhinehart in an e-mailed statement. “Since the beginning of this story, we have seen a tremendous outpouring of support from Canada and are pleased to be able to bring our vision of the future of food to our northern neighbors today."

Soylent will be using Canada Post, with Journey Freight International functioning as the importer. There isn’t Canadian-specific pricing, so the purchase price displayed is in US dollars. Order fulfillment is expected to follow the same pace as current US orders—shipping within 48 hours.
